The Superman Hack you need now to crush anxiety

Is it a bird? A plane? No…..it’s Superman!!!

I know you can see him now with his blue lycra outfit, red cape flying behind him, not a hair out of place. Stopping trains, rescuing citizens, always strong, brave, determined and confident.

Since there is no Superman in sight it’s more important than ever we need to become our own Superhero.

What on earth am I talking about??

O.K so perhaps Superman is not your thing, maybe you are more of a Spiderman, Wonder Woman, She-ra princess of power, Batman or another superhero. All of these superheros were ordinary people who had a Superhero part just sitting dormant until they had to make a choice to step it up knowing it was now or never.

With mental health declining, self harm and anxiety in children has increased as has suicide in adults during our current Covid 19 pandemic. Professor Ian Hickie (co director of the Brain and mind centre at the University of Sydney) predicts 750 extra suicides each year for the next 5 years due to long term psychological distress caused by the pandemic due to isolation, job loss, depression and anxiety.  We all need to step it up…..its now or never.

So when you see a superhero and without even witnessing them performing any stunts or incredible acts of bravery, we know just by looking at their body posture that they have limitless confidence, strength, determination and energy.

I will let you in on a secret…Our emotions, thinking and energy levels affect our posture.

But did you also know we can change our emotions, thinking and energy level just by changing our Posture?

I promise it’s true, this is where I dare you to have a go, your Kids will also love it and you will notice benefits in just 2 minutes.

The Superman Hack

  1. Imagine your favourite superhero
  2. Stand up with feet hip distance apart
  3. Straight back
  4. Shoulders back and down
  5. Chest proud and puffed out
  6. Hands on hips or up in the air
  7. You may even imagine a cape flying behind you!

Science says standing like this for just 2 minutes is enough to release those chemicals required to boost self- esteem, confidence, happiness and increase energy levels. While reducing feelings of anxiety, depression and overwhelm!

* Studies out of the US also suggest that increase in stress, anxiety and depression within the population may be attributed to prolonged use of smart tablets, laptops and phones where posture is slumped downward for long periods of time. Ensure you restrict screen time when possible, use a stand to elevate your device and have frequent breaks.
